Children's Museum

We are very lucky to have 3 different Children's Museums here in town (all are within 30 minutes from our house).  There's the original/old one, the New one, and the new new one (All named by Owen).  They are all the same company, so one membership gets you into all three.  They each have a ton of fun things, and all are different, so you can switch it up a bit.  While my brother and his family were in town we took the kids to the original Children's Museum (The new new one which is less than a mile from our house was not open yet).

The kids had a blast....
B kissing Cousin K's Minnie
They have a TON of things for the kids to do.  They can dig for dinosaur bones, or slide down a dinosaur's tail...

They can shop at the "Farmer's Market" (this is in a fenced in area for kids ages 2 and under)

Or go to the big kid grocery store, where they can shop, or check people out...

They can make new friends, who are wearing the same shirt..

They can pick apples, and throw them back...(This used to be O's favorite when he was close to B's age - check it out HERE)

How bout a little hula hooping?

And just for a few months, you can ride the carousel (this did cost $2.00 extra but only because the museum has to "rent" the attraction)

They have a large art room where you can draw, paint, glue, create, pretty much anything you can think of..

And there's plenty of fun even for the adults too..

If you get bored inside, there's even more fun outside with the bikes, more hula hoops (B carried this one around all the time), a sand box, and on the warm days water fun!

Believe it or not, there are areas we did not get pictures...they have a car auto area where you can check the oil, change a tire, an ambulance that you can play inside, a "hospital" area,  a bank ATM, a climbing area that incorporates nature/animals and much much more.

O saw this little sunshine on the way out and we just HAD to get a few pictures!

I would check to see if you have a Children's Museaum close to you, and if you do, it is well worth the investment for a membership.  My kids would go every day if we would let them.

Overwhelmed

I have been a horrible blogger lately and I apologize.  Unfortunately the blog is the thing that always gets pushed to the side when we get crazy/busy.  Now I'm so far behind in EVERYTHING I just don't know where to start.  Of course then I don't, and then I'm even further behind.  It is just a vicious never ending cycle.

We have some crazy heat coming through this weekend, so I hope to be able to take a little time to play catch up.  That is of course after T-ball, a baby shower, cleaning the house, finishing up some Mary Kay orders, playing with the kids, spending time with the husband and working out!

Does anyone else get crazy overwhelmed?  How do you get out of it?

Wordless Wednesday - Happy Father's Day!

The kids and I wanted to get Troy a new driver for Father's Day.  Of course he hadn't tested any, so I couldn't just go to the store and buy one....so we compromised.  Troy got a nice new plastic purple driver and it's a great addition to his golf bag!  I'm sure Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are jealous!

Nice Hair love bug!
Making sure it worked with his swing!

Thanks for being such a good sport Love!  (FYI - O wanted to give his Daddy his silver Percy train for Father's day...it was so cute...unfortunately this train is at my Mom's house, so it hasn't happened yet!).

The Cotton Tail Boutique - Review

Better late than never right?

Tammy from the Cotton Tail Boutique sent me the cutest headband (Pink Lemonade) for Brynnleigh to try and review!

Brynnleigh's immediate response...."I wike it, I wike my new air bow Mama!"

To get Brynnleigh's approval on an accessory is pretty awesome. This girl has a mind of her own when it comes to hair accessories, if she doesn't like it, it's gone in seconds!

She left this headband on for hours and would have slept in it had I let her.  This particular headband is only $5.00 and is worth every penny.  The headband will fit pretty much anyone (yes, believe me, B has a very large head, so I have to be careful w/headbands) and will grow with the child.  The flower is multi-dimensional and is attached to the headband permanently.  Since the flower was attached, I didn't have to worry about any metal pins poking into B's head!
Unfortunately B was so excited with her new headband it was hard to get some good pictures...but this one, is my ultimate favorite...

How can you get one of these hair bows??  You can contact the Cotton Tail Boutique using the links below.  Make sure to check out their Facebook store and website for all the other cute items they make!

Flying Squirels

While my brother, sister in law, and niece were in town, we went to our local baseball stadium.  Our team, The Flying Squirrels were in town, and we knew everyone would enjoy.  Troy's Dad was able to get us the box which is perfect for the kids (yes we are spoiled).  They can stay inside and color/play/watch TV, or they can come sit outside and enjoy the game.

Owen has been to 3 previous games and somehow has managed to walk away with a baseball each and every time.  So of course Mama headed straight to where they were warming up..and made sure my little O got his 4th baseball for his collection.  I may or may not have batted a few eyelashes ; )

We had a perfect view of the game...

Of course the Grandmother's enjoyed watching the game their grandbabies!

Brynnleigh did great for a 7pm game and a 7:30 pm bedtime!  She did have a little too much fun going in and out of the box though! ; )

The mascot, Nutzy came by to visit...both B and my niece, Kyra loved him.  O likes him, but likes him far far away!  ; )  Unfortunately I had stepped out and still had the zoom lens on the camera and Troy didn't think he had enough time to switch the lenses so these are the pics we got...

Nutzy visited with Troy's brother too..

And because B fell in love with Nutzy....we had to say goodbye before we left....(At this point O was done and perfectly happy playing in the box waiting for us!)

And we had to watch him walk away (yep....we were the very last ones in the stadium)

We had to yell BUH BYE NUTY and blow 100 kisses!  (And yes...Mama and Daddy were smart and packed the kids pjs to change into before we left!)

Wordless Wednesday - Mohawk Man

Owen wanted to get his hair cut in a mohawk soo bad.  We promised him that he could do it once his preschool ended, just in case they did graduation photos (which they didn't...and I'm a little upset about it).  So, the time came.....

Before

And went....poor O was terrified of the clippers.  He refused to let us get close to him with them and only wanted us to cut with the scissors.  I explained to him that he couldn't have his mohawk and he didn't care....there would be absolutely no clippers being used near him.

So when we were done, MeeMaw spiked his hair a bit....and he was ecstatic....telling everyone he got a mohawk!  He was like a kid in the candy store!

O's version of a mohawk
So while O is happy with his make shift mohawk...I'm upset it's not a real mohawk....and also wondering why in the world am I upset that my kid chose not to get a mohawk?  Seriously,  I think I'm going crazy! ; )

Memorial Day

We typically have a crazy but fun Memorial Day weekend every year.  Normally it involves Owen and I running to the pool on Saturday morning, followed by a cookout with friends on Saturday.  Sunday we head to church and then to either a family cookout, or something fun w/just us and the kids.  Monday is another pool day, followed by more fun surrounding food!

This year we were excited to not have as many things planned, and everything was on Saturday...so we had Sunday and Monday to just hang out as a family (and hopefully the pool).  Saturday, we were supposed to have O's first t-ball game, followed by a cookout w/friends, then Troy and I were headed to a wedding...and a fun date night.  Even though Saturday was crazy, I was super excited....

Well, things didn't go as planned...at all!  Troy came home early from work on Friday not feeling well.  And for those of you who don't know Troy.....he doesn't get sick....and he doesn't leave work....so you know he's sick sick when he comes home and goes straight to bed.

We did make it to O's t-ball game....and Troy toughed it out since he didn't want to miss it.....but that was about all he had in him.  We came home, and I finalized everything for the cookout while he took a nap....then, it hit me.  I started feeling HORRIBLE.

Thank goodness for my parents, I called them to see if they would come pick up the kids, which of course they did, and then I ran the food to the cookout and came back home to lie down.

Troy and I decided at 4pm that we would try to sit through the wedding...you know, the one that started at 6, (neither of us had even showered yet) and then come home and skip the reception.  So we showered dressed, drove, and sat....and then came back home and crashed.  The kids stayed at my parents house since they were scheduled to spend the night due to the wedding.

Sunday I woke up better...or so I thought, and Troy still struggled.  Even though I felt bad, I missed my babies, so I picked them up and came home.  We did NOTHING all day!

Monday Troy was better, just weak....then I got sick sick and laid in bed the rest of the day.

Then of course on Tuesday...when it's time to go back to work....we were better!  So we lost the whole weekend of fun!

So hopefully everyone else's Memorial Day weekend was better than ours!  And to those who have served, are serving, or will serve in the future....thank you for all that you do, I know I truly appreciate it.
