Mr. Independent

Trying to pack for vacation w/a little one is not always the easiest task. We thought this year, would be a little easier since O is older. Well it was, as long as I knew where he was that is. Thursday night we all got salads from Ukrops/Martins and while we were running around trying to get everything downstairs so Troy could start packing the car, I put them in the refrigerator.

All of a suddon, I heard Owen holloring that he needed help. Of course Troy was outside, so I waddled downstairs (I knew it wasn't an emergency w/how he was yelling luckily) to find this...

O was stuck in the refrigerator trying to get his fruit salad!! Of course being the wonderful Mom that I am, I didn't help him right away....I ran and got the camera, took some pictures, and almost peed in my pants laughing.
Troy missed the whole thing by about 2 minutes....so I'm glad I have the pictures to prove it!! : )

Purex 3n1 Laundry Sheets

So....does anyone know if these are any good??? I got some free this week at CVS (my cult store as Troy likes to call it) and am thinking about taking them to the beach for our laundry. I, however don't want to take them, and they suck, and then I have to go by super expensive laundry detergent. It would kinda defeat the whole purpose!!! I do have cheap Tide that I got at Rite Aid that I was going to take, but these sheets would just be so much easier to pack and bring home what's left. The sheets will do 20 lds, and the Tide 32....which I should not be doing THAT much laundry while we are there. I'm thinking at max...7-8 lds for towels, IF I wash them everyday (which will not happen....we'll have enough to go two days) and then probably 4-6lds regular clothes....if that. I'll probably only do 4 lds, plus the towels...so the sheets would just be sooo much easier.

I can always re-wash the clothes when we get home if the sheets aren't the best in the world....but I DON"T want to be wearing dirty clothes at the beach....especially at 33 wks pregnant!!

Movie Junkie

I think we've created a movie junkie!!! O wants to watch movies all day every day and we have to turn the house into a "movie theater" by turning off ALL the lights and popping popcorn. Normally once the movie starts he stops eating his popcorn and doesn't move!!!

So far his movie list consists of Free Willy, The Wizard of Oz (thinks cousin P for adding this classic), Toy Story (any of them), and the newest obsession - The Mighty Ducks!!!

I'm just glad that his movies are all movies that we don't mind watching!!!
Here's O once he's stopped w/the popcorn and is enjoying the movie (and posing for the camera a tad!!

Thank you!!

I just wanted to say a special THANK YOU to everyone how has offered us their hand me down clothes. We are soo blessed to have such great friends and family!! Little Miss will be super stylish in her new clothes that are basically brand new!!! She will be sure to return the favor and pass her clothes down !!!

I can't wait to play dress up w/the Little Miss and I can only HOPE that she's as cute in them as her friends were!!!

Thank you LR/KU, TL/ML/ML, JP/SP, PBM/SM, LP/AP/RP/MP

Jogging Stroller Update

Okay....after a rough few days at work...Troy offered to take me to the "stroller palace" so I could play w/the double strollers to help make my decision. Had he known what my decision would be, he probably would have taken me months ago!!

Well I played w/the models like the one I had fallen in love with...and while playing, I still loved it (Troy started getting nervous at this point). Then I nicely reiterated to the sales lady "and I can jog w/this stroller right?" And...well...her response floored me...."Oh no, that's not a jogging stroller, is that what you want?"

Let's think about this....the stroller is made by a company called Baby Jogger....why the hell wouldn't you be able to jog w/it?? I think it's bad marketing on their part....I mean come on now!!

So then she proceeds to show me the best double jogging strollers....and explains that the only double jogging stroller made by "Baby Jogger" is just way too huge and not worth the money. I was ready to just turn around and leave...and well, let's just say Troy was enjoying every moment....knowing that he would not have to spend $400-$600 on a stroller!!

The stroller that she recommended...the Bob Revoluation Duallie...was extremely nice...and somewhat light (I mean come on.....it's a double jogging stroller....light isn't really going to happen)....but it is $600.00!!! That's a lot of money for something we'd just be using every now and then.

On top of all of that....our wonderful 3.5 year old Owen, wanted nothing to do w/the strollers. He just wanted to push them, not sit in them so I could see how well he'd fit. (Yes...Troy was loving this part too, since his argument against the double was....O's not going to want to sit in it). So in my mind...as I'm falling in love w/this $600 HUGE double jogging stroller that my child won't sit in, and my other child won't be able to use unless I put her in illegally or buy a new car seat I started realizing that it's just not necessary for us.

I took my blinders off and debated the situation the entire drive home....and well, I've talked myself out of it...for now. O will be in preschool 3 days a week when Miss Thang gets here so I don't see why I can't work my workout around his schedule. I may just have to give up some of my personal (well probably sleep) time and go out and run while Troy watches the kids, or drop them off w/our parents for a bit while we go out for a run.

I still love the Bob Revolution....and will stalk Craigslist & yardsales, just in case...but for now I'll make do w/what I have and keep my fingers crossed that O will pick up bike riding and will want to bike along as Mom attempts to jog!!

And for Troy.....yes, you were right...we don't need the double.....for now anyways!! ; )

Jogging Stroller - Double, Single...or neither?

I'm debating on whether or not to get a jogging stroller. I don't need a new single stroller for Little Miss, she can use O's old one which I still LOVE!! (Chicco). I am debating a double stroller, or a sit and stand, so if we are out and about on a long day trip, O has a place to land if need be. Well if I'm going to spend the money to get a double or a sit & stand, I might as well get a double jogging stroller, so we can use it both for daily strolls, jogging/running, and long day trips where both kids may need somewhere to take a break. But....is it worth the money? Most double jogging strollers are anywhere between $200-$800. The one I am looking at (Baby Jogger City Mini) is $399.99 regular price....so is it worth $400.00?? I wouldn't use it as my everyday stroller. The main purpose of this stroller would be for walks/runs through the neighborhood and long day trips or any type of trip where we would be out and about w/both kids.

Troy is training for a marathon, and I am going to train for a 1/2 marathon once I get the release from my Dr....so we would be running/walking. I know the jogging strollers are a pain in the butt to push while run...but that would just make running alone easier right? I just don't see us both having the opportunity to run and train without some type of running gear for the kids.

O will be almost 4 when Little Miss arrives, so is he too old for a jogging stroller? Is it worth the money? I know in the beginning, if I'm walking around the block, I would need something for both of them. O still isn't riding a bike or anything so it's not like I can have him ride a bike next to me while I walk or run. I don't want to use the kids as an excuse not to exercise either.

So....should I take the risk and purchase the stroller, or do I just deal w/what I have?? Decisions Decisions!!
